Number of Covid patients at Bolton hospital remains high
The number of people being treated for coronavirus at the borough's hospital remains relatively high, according to the NHS.
This coincides with the number of coronavirus cases beginning to rise in the borough and elsewhere in Greater Manchester.
As of August 10, the latest data publicly available, 47 people were being treated for Covid-19 at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
This is a slight increase from the week before (August 3) where 45 patients were being treated for coronavirus.
There have been at least 45 patients being treated at the hospital all of this month, however, this is a slight decrease from July when there were as many as 60 patients being treated.
Of the 47 patients currently in the hospital, five are being treated with a 'mechanical ventilator', a fall from the eight people that were being treated on August 6.
This number of patients coincides with a recently increasing infection rate. In the seven days to August 9 Bolton recorded 590 new positive cases of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 204.7 new cases per 100,000 residents.
Patient numbers had dropped as low as 11 at the start of May, but the current number of patients is still far lower than previous highs during the pandemic, with Bolton Hospital treating as many as 150 people at points in January this year.
