LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Something is rotten in Washington

Since Inauguration Day in January, our nation has changed from an energy-independent net exporter of oil and gas to an energy-dependent OPEC beseecher. Our southern border has been opened and we have enticed everyone in the world to come here with our promises of shelter, health care, education, etc. As a result, drugs, trafficked humans, terrorists, gang members and diseases of all types are entering.

Furthermore, the cost of gasoline has risen more than 30%, along with large increases in the costs of home energy, food, clothing and housing. Now we are facing large tax increases.

In Afghanistan, our actions are downright shameful. The president pulled our forces out of that country without a thought about the consequences of such an action. Millions of dollars worth of aircraft, trucks and other vehicles, thousands of small arms, night-vision goggles and other personal equipment, heaps of ammunition and more have been left for the Taliban to take. Afghans and U.S. citizens have been left for the Taliban to dispose of â€" and there’s no doubt that’s exactly what they will do. The scenes of poor frightened people holding onto C-17 transport planes and falling to their death from several thousand feet is terrible to see.

Until January the U.S. had a hard-working president who put the welfare and needs of U.S. citizens first. He had appointed experienced department head, and was cognizant of the world situation and acted accordingly and responsibly. Over the four years of his term, he was relentlessly and unfairly attacked over baseless, contrived issues and even impeached twice. This was done by the “deep state,” which hated him for purely political reasons.

Americans and the world watched the 2020 elections. Using the Chinese-created COVID-19 “pandemic” as an excuse, methods and procedures were instituted that we had never permitted before. There were weeks of absentee votes allowed. “Drop boxes” were used. Voter verification was almost non existent.

After election day, the vote count took longer than ever before. Ultimately Joe Biden was declared the winner. Now we have a mentally deficient “president” whose administration has been a disaster in every way possible. Leaders the world over see what’s going on here. Our nation is in serious trouble.

It is time to investigate exactly how this situation came about. I can’t help but doubt that a majority of Americans purposely cast their vote to install this poor man as head of our nation.
