Bradley Beal to miss Olympics due to health and safety protocols

Wizards guard Bradley Beal will not be representing Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics after being placed in health and safety protocols, the team announced on Thursday.

Beal, who entered the protocols on Wednesday night, will remain in them, ending his Olympic hopes.

Another member of the U.S. Olympics squad, the Detroit Piston’s Jerami Grant, was also placed in the health and safety protocols as a precaution.

Beal played in all three exhibitions for Team USA, including a 17-point performance against Argentina on Tuesday night.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that Beal will be replaced on the roster.

The American men’s team now only has seven of its 12 Olympic players eligible to play in its next exhibition on Friday as NBA stars Kris Middleton, Jrue Holiday and Devin Booker are still playing in the Phoenix Suns-Milwaukee Bucks title series.

The team is set to leave for Tokyo on Monday, according to the Associated Press.
